The consequences of a tool collision accident in a CNC machining center are serious, how can we avoid it?

    2020.12.15

As a CNC machining center manufacturer or a processing company, we often hear about the accidents of the machining center hitting a knife. If the operator does not abide by the safety operation regulations, personal accidents or equipment accidents will occur. In CNC machining centers, because most of them are equipped with safety doors, the safety doors are required to be closed during processing, and the operator does not directly operate the machine tool. Therefore, the probability of personal accidents is small, but the probability of equipment accidents is much greater than other machining , Because the ordinary machine tool is processed by the operator manually operating the machine tool with his own operating experience; the CNC machining center is automatically controlled by the machine tool through the processing program for processing. The CNC machining center is not directly controlled by people, but by the program.

    Users:

When operating the machine tool, the technicians often make mistakes in programming, inputting and correcting errors, the coordinate system or cutter compensation drive in error, and careless operation of the machine tool will cause knife collision accidents. In the process of using the machining center, if the tool collision occurs, it will not only bring great psychological pressure to the operator, but also cause certain economic losses. So, how can we avoid it?

    Manufacturer:

Due to the high price of the machining center, the difficulty of maintenance and the high cost, and the high precision, high efficiency, and high automation of the machined parts are mainly guaranteed by the accuracy of the machine tool, once an equipment accident occurs, the accuracy of the machine tool will be seriously reduced. In fact, the occurrence of tool collision accidents can be followed regularly. Because the CNC machining center is locked by software, during simulation processing, when the automatic operation button is pressed, the simulation interface cannot intuitively see whether the machine tool is Locked. There is often no tool setting during simulation. If the machine tool is not locked for operation, tool collision is very likely to occur. Therefore, you should go to the running interface to confirm whether the machine tool is locked before simulating processing. Forgot to turn off the air transport switch during processing. In order to save time during program simulation, the dry run switch is often turned on.

There is no reference point return after the dry run simulation. When verifying the program, the machining center is locked and the tool is in the simulation operation relative to the workpiece processing (absolute coordinates and relative coordinates are changing). At this time, the coordinates do not match the actual position. The method of returning to the reference point must be used to ensure The machine zero coordinate is consistent with the absolute and relative coordinates.

When the machine tool overtravel, press and hold the overtravel release button and move in the opposite direction with manual or manual mode, which can be eliminated. However, if the direction of release is reversed, it will cause damage to the machine tool. Because when pressing the override release, the over travel protection of the machine tool will not work, and the travel switch of the over travel protection is already at the end of the stroke. At this time, it may cause the worktable to continue to move towards the overtravel direction, and eventually pull the lead screw, causing damage to the machine tool. When the specified line is running, it is usually executed from the cursor position downward. For the lathe, it is necessary to call the tool offset value of the tool used. If the tool is not called, the tool in the running program section may not be the required tool, which is very likely to cause a tool collision accident due to different tools. Of course, in the machining center, CNC milling machine must first call the coordinate system such as g54 and the length compensation value of the cutter. Because the length compensation value of each knife is different, it may cause knife collision if it is not called.

In short, master the programming skills of the machining center and use various methods to verify the program. The coordinate system and tool length compensation and radius compensation are set correctly. During the operation, you can listen to all directions to avoid unnecessary errors. It can effectively avoid the phenomenon of knife collision and better protect the CNC machining center.
