How to detect the quality of CNC parts?

    2025.01.10

In today's manufacturing industry, CNC (computer numerical control) processing technology is widely used because of its high precision and high efficiency. However, it is crucial to ensure that the produced CNC parts meet quality standards. Here are some key inspection steps and methods to help you ensure the quality of  CNC parts.
    1.Visual inspection
First, it is essential to visually inspect the parts. Observe whether there are scratches, dents, cracks, oxidation or other obvious defects on the surface of the parts. Check whether the edges of the parts are smooth, free of burrs and sharp angles. At the same time, pay attention to whether the color and gloss of the parts are uniform, which may reflect the quality of material processing or surface treatment.
    2.Dimension measurement
Accurate size is a key indicator of  CNC part quality. Use appropriate measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, projectors, etc. to measure the key dimensions of the parts, including length, width, height, hole diameter, shaft diameter, etc. Compare with the tolerance requirements on the design drawing to ensure that the size is within the allowable range.
    3.Geometric tolerance inspection
In addition to size, geometric tolerances such as flatness, verticality, roundness, and concentricity also have a great impact on the performance and assembly of parts. High-precision measuring equipment such as coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) can be used to detect these geometric tolerances.
    4.Material inspection
Confirm that the materials used for the parts meet the design requirements. Material analysis methods such as spectral analysis and hardness testing can be used to verify the composition and performance of the materials.
    5.Surface treatment inspection
If the parts have been surface treated, such as electroplating, painting, oxidation, etc., check the quality of the surface treatment. Observe the uniformity, adhesion, and thickness of the coating.
