What are the differences in different thermal treatment processes?

Source: Browse:1142 The release date:2023.05.19 [ Large medium small ]

What is heat treatment?

The heat treatment is to improve the use performance of the workpiece by changing the internal micro -organizations inside the workpiece or changing the chemical composition of the workpiece surface.

When do you need heat treatment?

After the customer issues an order, the saw workshop is cut or the machine is used for a series of grinding or machine milling work according to the customer's needs.

According to demand or rough processing molding mold return to the factory heat treatment, different processes are selected for heat treatment according to different materials.

Thermal treatment process classification

The thermal treatment process we shared today includes: quenching, tempering, nitride, deep cold, oxidation and other processes. So what do these crafts mean? The answer is revealed below ~

  1. Quench

    (1)What is quenching?

After the steel Austrian, cooled at a proper cooling speed, so that the workpiece will occur in the heat treatment process of unstable tissue structure such as martensite and other unstable tissue structures in the cross section.

    (2) The purpose of quenching?

    1) Improve the mechanical properties of metal materials or parts. For example: Improving the hardness and abrasion resistance of tools, bearing, etc., improve the elastic limit of spring, and improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of the shaft parts.

  1. Improve the material performance or chemical performance of certain special steel. Such as improving the corrosion resistance of stainless steel, increasing the permanent magneticity of magnetic steel.

  1. Tempering

    (1) What is tempering

Keep the quenching workpiece to the appropriate temperature below the critical point AC1 for a certain amount of time, and then cool it with a method that meets the requirements to obtain the required tissue and performance thermal treatment process.

    (2)The purpose of  tempering

    1) Reduce internal stress and reduction of brittleness. There is a large stress and brittleness in quenching parts. If it is not recovered in time, it will often cause deformation or even cracking.

    2) Adjust the mechanical performance of the workpiece. After the workpiece is quenched, the hardness is high, and the brittleness is high. In order to meet the performance requirements of various workpieces, it can be adjusted by ignition, hardness, strength, plasticity, and toughness.

    3) Stable workpiece size. By igniting, the gold phase organization can stabilize to ensure that it will no longer deform during the future use process.

    4) Improve the cutting performance of certain alloy steel.

  2. Nitride

    (1)What is nitride?

Nitride treatment refers to a chemical heat treatment process that cause nitrogen atoms into the surface layer of the workpiece at a certain temperature at a certain temperature.

    (2)The purpose of nitride?

Make the product have excellent abrasion resistance, fatigue resistance, erosion resistance and high temperature resistance. Nitride treatment refers to a chemical heat treatment process that cause nitrogen atoms into the surface layer of the workpiece at a certain temperature at a certain temperature.

  3. Deep cold

    (1) What is deep and cold?

Deep cold treatment is to treat the metal below -160 ° C, so that the soft residual Austenite is almost all converted into a high-intensity martensite.

  4. Oxidation

    What is oxidation?

Steel parts generate a dense and protective oxide film on the surface through oxidation. The main component is magnetic iron oxide (Fe3O4). It has anti -adhesion effects. The FES thin film obtained by surface vulcanization can have both abrasion and anti -adhesion effects. At the same time, it can improve resistance and high temperature antioxidant.
