What kind of tools are used in cast iron processing?
1.Types and processing characteristics of cast iron
Cast iron can be divided into gray cast iron, white cast iron, malleable cast iron, nodular cast iron, vermicular graphite cast iron, alloy cast iron and so on. Gray cast iron is widely used in the automotive industry, and the automotive industry is a large demand for CNC cutting tools, so the processing plant often has the processing demand of gray cast iron.
2. What kind of tool is used to process ordinary cast iron
The normal cast irons mentioned in this paper are gray cast iron, nodular cast iron and austenitic cast iron. The machinability of gray cast iron is good. If the cemented carbide milling cutter coated with alumina is used, most of them are competent for cutting gray cast iron. Due to the influence of graphite content on the machinability of nodular cast iron, the economical coated alloy milling cutter for integral cemented carbide bar can be generally used.
Normal cast iron processing tools, economic tungsten steel milling cutter can be competent. Secondly, high speed steel tools containing cobalt can be used.
3.What kind of tool is used to process difficult cast iron
For the time being, only chilled cast iron is taken as an example. The chilled cast iron is a kind of wear-resistant cast iron. It can obtain encyclopedia cast iron structure by accelerating the cooling of the surface layer of the cast iron casting, forming the characteristics of high hardness and high wear resistance. Chilled cast iron can be divided into ordinary chilled cast iron, nickel chromium chilled cast iron, high chromium white cast iron and chromium vanadium white cast iron.
1) Processing characteristics of chilled cast iron
The hardness and brittleness of chilled cast iron are very high, and the unit cutting force is also very large. Moreover, the chip is in the shape of chipping. Because the tool tip contacts with the cutting very short, the cutting force and cutting heat are concentrated near the cutting edge, which is easy to cause tool wear and damage. The processing parts of chilled cast iron are mostly blank, and the machining allowance is large and uneven, which increases the difficulty of cast iron processing. Of course, at present, there are good solutions for cast iron machining tools and cast iron milling cutters.
2) Selection of tools for machining chilled cast iron
It is better to choose the tool material with high hardness, good wear resistance and certain strength to process chilled cast iron. Generally, the coated YG cemented carbide or alumina ceramic tools with fine or ultra-fine grains are used.
3) Cutting parameters of milling cutter for machining chilled cast iron
Carbide tool; low speed and large feed. When v = 9m / min, the feed rate is generally selected according to the main deflection angle and back feed. 0.5mm/r for rough machining and 0.1 ~ 0.4mm/r for finishing.Ceramic cutting tools: generally, high-speed milling is selected, v = 50 ~ 80m / min for rough and semi finishing, and 80 ~ 120m / min for finishing.
Cast iron cutting tools, such as cutter grains, can be roughened, semifinished and finished. If we don't know what kind of milling cutter is used for cast iron, YG cemented carbide cutter is selected for machining cast iron milling cutter.
